July was a lively and unforgettable month for Carcassonne, filled with traditions, teamwork and lots of celebration. Not only did we host two square dances, but we also came together for a once-in-a-lifetime Centennial Celebration that honored our past and strengthened our mission for the future. Each event was a reminder of our deep roots and commitment to preserving the spirit of Carcassonne for the generations to come!

One of those square dances was particularly special as we welcomed a group from Scotland, who traveled across the ocean to celebrate the connections between Scottish heritage and Appalachian culture. They came to showcase the rich history we share, proving that even miles apart, traditions, music and good food can bring people together.

We had the privilege of hosting Otto, Chris, and Matt, who spent a few days right here in our mountains. With camera in hand and hearts in tune, they captured the beauty, resilience, and timeless spirit of our community. Their work will help tell the story of Carcassonne far and wide, sharing a piece of our heritage with the world and reminding us all of the power of connection, culture, and celebration.

Here is just a little teaser of their hard work!
