Obituary

Ella Mae (Granny Mae) Fugate passed into eternal life on July 26, 2023. She was a faithful member of the Little Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. She will be most remembered for the love she gave, not only to family, but to all who knew her.

She was born September 6, 1924 being 98 years old at the time of her passing.

Surviving are four daughters: Yvonne (Danny), Wanda (Sam), Loretta, Kay (Jeff); two sons: Allen “Doc” (Sherry) and Robert Fugate and one sister: Mona Voignier and daughter-in-law: Debbie Fugate.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Oakley Fugate, son Gary “Dukie” Fugate, son-in-law: Jon Henrikson and two daughters: Jeanette and Diana Lynn.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and two very special caregivers: Susan Jent and Denise Combs, who Granny Mae loved like her own daughters.

Funeral: 1:00 O’clock P.M. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Little Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with Allen Fugate, David Jent, Jeff Roark and Earl Combs officiating. Visitation: 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Little Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Jent Cemetery at Carcassonne, Kentucky.

Community Write-Up

Carcassonne has lost a beloved neighbor, Ella Mae Fugate. She was the matriarch of our community. “Granny Mae” was a life-long resident of Carcassonne, a founding member of the Carcassonne Community Center Quilting Group, and a friendly presence at most of the Community Center’s activities. She would have been 99 years old this September.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 29th at 11:00 AM at the Little Bull Creek Old Regular Baptist Church at Carcassonne. Her Funeral will be at 1:00 PM.
